Winning Streak Reaches 25, Logan Decimates Point 59-13

The Chieftains traveled across the river on Friday, came out and played sluggish football, but still was able to destroy the Big Blacks. The Logan offense played well enough for the Chiefs to win, and the defense was stellar as usual.

The Chiefs wasted no time to make a big play. On Point's first drive, Matt Mong made a crushing hit on 3rd down, and Point QB Kevin Thompson fumbled the football. Logan recovered it, and was in business. The Chieftains found pay dirt when Penrod hooked up with Jeremy Coakley for a 20-yard TD. Puhl added the PAT, 7-0 Chiefs. More Point mistakes would lead to Chieftains points. On Point's next punt, the snap went wild over the punters head, and out of the back of the endzone, for a safety. Logan led 9-0.

Logan returned the ensuing kick-off to the 21-yard line, and later Harden rumbled in from 9 yards out. Logan led 16-0. On Point's next punt, the snap once again went errant, landed in the endzone, and then Senior Trent Woodgeard fell on it for his first career TD. 23-0 Chiefs, end of one.

The second quarter was more of the same. Harden scored from three yards out to give the Chiefs a 30-0 lead at the 6:00 minute mark. ON the next drive, Matt Mong picked off Thompson and returned the ball 22 yards for a TD and a 37-0 lead. It would stay that way through the half.

The second half was more Logan, Mong scored on a one yard run and Coakley scored on a 3-yard run. Point Pleasant scored early in the fourth after a muffed punt by the Chiefs gave them the ball on the 18 yard line. Also in the fourth Sophomore "Hardcore" Austin Rohr scored for the third straight week, scoring from 38 yards out. David Ellis ran in the two point conversion, ending the Chiefs scoring for the evening. Justin Smith scored on a 7 yard catch from Thompson, ending the ball game.

Player of the game is Senior #22 Jeremy Coakley. Coakley caught a TD pass and ran for one as well. Coakley also did a great returning kicks and punts.

Alex Penrod was 4-8 passing for 48 yards. AP also did a great job running the football, gaining 45 yards on 4 rushes. Derek Harden only got 12 carries on the evening, as he spent most of the game on the sidelines. He still rushed for 70 yards.

The Chiefs return to action Friday in the Plains, as the Chiefs and Bulldogs will re-engage their rivalry. Kick-off is slated for 7:30.
