Logan Seniors Finish Careers As Champions
All good things must come to an end. Saturday, in front of the largest crowd in the history of Bill Sauer Field, Logan, undersized and undermanned battled Dublin Coffman to the final second. The boys from Logan never quit, and showed why they are the biggest winners in the state this season. This year's Seniors proved once again, that heart, leadership, and determination can overcome all odds. This team was NOT supposed to go 7-3, let alone 10-0. Atleast in the matter of public opinion. But this team had other ideas.
This team set their goals at the end of the 2000 campaign, the most successful in school history. The Chieftains decided then, that they were good enough, that they were going to step out of the shadow cast by the Seniors from the 2000 football season. Their goals were the same as last year, ONE:Win the SEOAL. TWO: Go 10-0 THREE: Return to the State Playoffs.
And like true champions, this class achieved all three goals. This class may not have had the talent, they may not have had the size, they may not have had the experience, but they had the three most important aspects in any sport, HEART, DETERMINATION, and LEADERSHIP.
The Class of 2001, By the Numbers:
* 31-04 Three Year Overall Record
* 29-01 Three Year Regular Season Record
* 21-00 Three Year SEOAL Record
* 3 Straight Playoff Appearances.
* 3 Consecutive Solo SEOAL Championships.
* 3 Wins over Zanesville.
* First Ever Back to Back 10-0 Seasons.
* Finished Career On a 29 Game Regular Season Winning Streak.
