Chieftains Help West Win All-Star Game!
Nine Logan Chieftains competed Saturday Night in the 9th Annual East-West All-Star Game. The game was held at Lancaster's Fulton Field. Players from Amanda-Clearcreek, Athens, Bloom Carroll, Fairfield Union, Liberty Union, Logan, Logan Elm, New Lexington, and Trimble led the West squad to a 19-13 victory. Logan's Chaz Kline, who snagged 2 INTs, shared MVP honors with Amanda-Clearcreek's Klive Kraft who was the West's #1 receiver. He caught a 50-yard TD pass from Bobby Stevens on the West's first play from scrimmage.
The East squad was coached by Lancaster head coach Rob Carpenter, and featured his son, OSU-Bound Bobby Carpenter, as well as 8 other Golden Gales. Also aiding the East were players from Canal Winchester, Fisher Catholic, Fairfield Union, Licking Heights, Millersport, New Albany, Pickerington, and Teays Valley. The East were led by Pickerington's Kyle James, who had a TD and an interception.
The Game was pretty sloppy, with many fumbles. Logan's Alex Penrod had a nice night going 8-13 for over 100 yards. He had a 4-yard TD pass to former teammate Derek Harden, but also threw one interception. It was a good time for players and fans alike.
The only downside to the evening was the injuries to two Logan players, Max Resler and Trent Woodgeard. Max was hurt late in the first quarter after his lone reception. He broke his foot, and would not return. Likewise, Trent was hurt while sacking the quarterback, and blew out both his MCL and his ACL. Both boys will be off their feet for a while.
