LoganFootball.com's Look at Chieftain Graduates Still on the Gridiron

There are currently 7 LHS grads continuing their careers at the collegiate level.  This fall, LF.com hopes to keep track of these seven players each week.  First, we have some catching up to do.

Joey Conrad, Class of 2001 (Glenville (WV) State College)
Joey Conrad enters his Senior year as one of the best QBs in Glenville State history.  Conrad enters as a pre-season All-American by some media sources.  In week one, the Pioneers rolled past Johnson C. Smith (NC) 33-9. Against JCS, Joey completed 21 of 33 passes for 223 yards and 4 TDs.  Conrad also rushed 5 times for 12 yards.  Joey was named the WVIAC Offensive Player of the Week for his performance.

In week two (09/03/05), Conrad's Pioneers fell to Millersville (PA) 21-20.  Conrad completed 25 of 46 passes for 270 yards.  Joey threw 2 TD passes, but was intercepted once.  Conrad also picked up yards on the ground, gaining 96 yards on 12 carries, including a 46 yard run in the third quarter.

The Pioneers will travel to Charleston (WV) on Saturday, Sept. 10 for a 1:00 PM game.

Jesse Henestofel, Class of 2001 and Jason Dicken, Class of 2003 (Muskingum College)
Jesse Henestofel and Jason Dicken should both be key contributors for the Muskies during the 2005 campaign.  During the 2004 season, Henestofel played in all 10 MC games and tied for the team lead in interceptions with 2.  Henestofel was fourth on the team in tackles with 54 from his safety spot, and 35 of those tackles were solo.  Henestofel made two tackles for loss.

Jason Dicken finished third on the 2004 Muskie football team with 13 catches, and third on the team in receiving yards with 174.  Dicken accomplished those numbers while playing in only 6 of the teams 10 games.  Dicken had the Muskies longest reception, a 58 yard catch.

The Muskies dropped their season opener against the College of Wooster 13-10.  Henestofel recorded 5 tackles and 1 pass break-up in the game.  Dicken did not play for MC.

Muskingum returns to action on Saturday Sept. 17 when they will travel to Wilmington College for a 1:30 PM kick-off.

Derek Harden, Class of 2002 (The Ohio State University)
Derek Harden begins his second season as a walk-on WR with Ohio State.  Harden hopes to be able to contribut on special teams this fall, but did not play in Saturday's 34-14 win over Miami University.

Matt Mong, Class of 2002 (University of Dayton)
Matt Mong and the Dayton Flyers got off to a great start against the Dragons of Tiffin, blanking the Div. 2 foe 38-0.  The Flyers look to continue their NCAA best 28-year streak of winning seasons in 2005.

Matt Mong led the Flyers on Saturday in a game at Tiffin, scoring three times.  Mong carried the ball 7 times for 22 yards, and scored on runs from 1, 2, and 7 yards out.

Mong caught the game winning TD pass in a game against Butler during the 2004 season.

Dayton will host Wittenburg on Saturday, September 10 at Welcome Stadium.  Kick-off will be at 1:00 PM.

Justin Pack, Class of 2005 (Ohio Dominican University)
Justin Pack was on the sidelines Saturday for the first win in ODU football history.  The Freshmen running back didn't get on the field for the Panthers, but don't be surprised if he plays before the season is over.

Corey Spackey, Class of 2005 (College of Mount St Josephs (Cincinnati, OH)
Look for Corey to contribute on the CMSJ JV team during the 2005 season as he works toward earning playing time for the Lions in 2006.
