There are currently 7 LHS grads continuing their careers at the collegiate level. This fall, LF.com hopes to keep track of these seven players each week. Here is the season wrap-up.
Joey Conrad, Class of 2001 (Glenville (WV) State College)
Joey Conrad finished his career holding 2 NCAA Division Two titles
and every significant passing record in WVIAC history. The Pioneers
finished 9-2 overall and 7-1 in the West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic
Conference. It was the Pioneers first winning season since 2001.
Conrad finished the season with 3696 passing yards, having completed 288 of 439 passes. Conrad connected on 33 touchdown passes and only 3 interceptions. Joey was named the WVIAC Offensive Player of the Year.
Conrad set career NCAA D2 records for Total Offense and Passing yards. For his career, Conrad has thrown for 11880 and accounted for 12489 yards of total offense. Conrad has set additional WVIAC records for touchdowns, completions, and attempts. Conrad has completed 1154 of 1655 passes, 104 of those went for touchdowns.
Joey was named as a finalist for the Harlan Hill Award which goes to
the nation's top player in Division Two.
Jesse Henestofel, Class of 2001 and Jason Dicken, Class of 2003 (Muskingum
College)
Jesse Henestofel finished his career at Muskingum College this fall.
The Muskies finished 2-8 overall and 2-7 in the Ohio Athletic Conference.
Henestofel started all 10 games at defensive back and was named Honorable
Mention All-OAC.
Jesse recorded 55 tackles, intercepted 3 passes, and broke up 6 passes
overall this fall for the Muskies.
Derek Harden, Class of 2002 (The Ohio State University)
The Buckeyes finished the regular season 9-2, including a second straight
win over the University of Michigan. Ohio State finished as co-Big
ten Champions, and accepted a bid to the Fiesta Bowl. Ohio State
will take on Notre Dame on January 2, 2005.
Derek caught one pass this fall, and contributed on special teams for
the Buckeyes.
Matt Mong, Class of 2002 (University of Dayton)
Dayton finished the season 9-1 overall, and 3-1 in the Pioneer Football
League North division. Matt Mong led the team in scoring, and has
the distinction of never having been tackled for loss during his four years
in the Flyer backfield.
For the season, Matt ran for 230 yards on 61 carries and ran for 12
touchdowns.
Justin Pack, Class of 2005 (Ohio Dominican University)
Ohio Dominican finished 3-7 this season, just their second season of
Varsity football.
Justin Pack redshirted for the Panthers in 2005. Look for Justin
to be making impact during the 2006 football season.
Corey Spackey, Class of 2005 (College of Mount St Josephs (Cincinnati,
OH)
Mount St Josephs finished 9-2 overall, including a Heartland Collegiate
Athletic Conference championship. The Lions qualified for the Division
3 playoffs, but lost to Mount Union in the first round.
Corey played for the JV team this fall. Look for Corey to fight
for playing time this summer for the 2006 football season.
