Logan Clicks On All Cylinders, Shuts-Out Warren 42-00

The Chieftains played perhaps their best night of football so far this season, moving to 5-0 on the season and winning their 24th straight football game. The Chieftains dominated the game, gaining 448 yards on offense while allowing just 138 on defense.

The Chieftain offense struck early. After Chaz Kline picked off Warrior QB Travis Ollum on the game's first series, the Chieftains marched down the field for the games first score, a 29-yard Matt Mong TD. It was the start of a great night for the Senior.

Four minutes later, the offense struck pay dirt one more time. The Chiefs ran the ball for seven straight plays, and then Matt Mong ran in from 5-yards out to make the score 14-0. Then the defense had one of their gutsiest series of the season. Warren had six attempts to score from inside the four yard line. Each time the Chieftain defense denied the Warriors the TD.

Then came the best drive of the night, as Logan marched down the field in less than three minutes, and scored with just :30 seconds to go as Penrod found Mong for a 15-yard scoring strike. Logan had rapped up the ball game.

The second half was more of the same, the Chieftain defense stopped everything the Warriors tried, and the offense scored again, AND AGAIN.

Matt Mong scored once more, Senior Jeremy Coakley scored from 1-yard out, and Sophomore Austin Rohr scored for the second straight week.

Matt Mong ran for 106 yards on 11 carries, Derek Harden ran for 153 yards on 25 carries, Coakley went for 45 on 4 carries, and Rohr went for 67 on 2 carries. The Chieftains rushed for a total of 376 yards.

Alex Penrod had a good night passing the ball, as his receivers dropped a couple of good passes. Penrod was 5-13 for 72 yards with no interceptions and one TD pass.

Player of the game for week 5 is Matt Mong. The Senior was instrumental on both sides of the ball. Harden and Mong form the best 1-2 punch in South East Ohio.

The Chiefs return to action on Friday, as they travel across the river to Point Pleasant, for another big SEOAL contest.
