Logan Dominates Trenches in 13-0 Shut-Out of Zanesville

In the Logan VS Zanesville rivalry, the tides have turned. Zanesville who at one point was 10-0 VS the Chieftains, now have lost three straight to the Chieftains. Friday night may have been their most embarrassing. Zanesville managed just 78 yards of offense a week ago against Newark, and managed just 24 VS the Chieftains this week. The defense, especially MLB Matt Mong took control of this game from the get-go.

The Blue Devils would only get 3 first downs the entire football games. Zanesville only crossed the 50 yard line twice, and Punter Jordan Lear was the main offensive threat, punting the ball 10 times. Matt Mong recorded four sacks and numerous tackles, several for loss. Jason Dicken picked up an interception, and Logan recovered one fumble after an Adam Puhl punt struck the back of a Zanesville player.

The Logan offense had one of their best showings. The Blue Devils stuffed the box, and held Harden to 50 yards on 21 carries and was held to no TDs. But Alex Penrod was 13-28, for 157 yards a TD, but did throw one INT. Matt Mong was the star, rushing for 19 yards on 6 carries, caught 4 passes for 57 yards, and caught and rushed for a TD. John Scott, a WVU signee, was held to 3 yards on 4 carries, and went out of the game in the second quarter after re-aggrivating an arm injury.

Player of the game goes to Matt Mong again this week. He tormented QB Gunner Mohler all night, and had two big TDs. The win extended Logan's regular season winning streak to 22 games. Logan begins SEOAL play on Friday as the Raiders of River Valley come calling. River Valley is 0-3.
