The 1950s was a decade of transition for Logan High School Football. It began with end of the reign of Dwight Diller, who coached at LHS from 1947-1953. Dwiller had only one team fail to finish .500 or better, and that was in his final season in 1953. He won atleast 4 games in SEOAL play every season, and won an outright SEOAL championship in 1952. The end of the decade welcomed in arguably the greatest coach in LHS history. Starting 1957 Mel Adams began a reign that lasted until 1965. Adams never had a team finish with less than 5 wins, and was only .500 one season. He won 3 SEOAL championships, including back to back titles in 1963 and 1964. In between however, was the unlucky years coached by Alson Schrivner. Schrivner coach 3 injury plagued season on the LHS gridiron. The '50s had their share of outstanding players, including John Yates, Bob Emerson, Bob Thomas, Eddie Joe Grandy, Larry Buckles, Jim St. Clair, Dave Roberts, Gene Morgan, Bob Risch, Terry Stewart, Larry Wells, George Stump, Duane Swartz, and Mickey Frazier.
