Patrick Angle - 2009 Associate Press Division II Offensive Co-Player of the Year
Quarterback Patrick Angle was the first ever Chieftain to be named All-Ohio player of the year by the Associated Press. The senior quarterback was also a finalist for the coveted Mr. Football Award. Angle led the Chieftains to a career record of 31-4 and 22-2 as the purple and white starting quarterback.
During two seasons as the starting quarterback, the Chieftains won 22 games against only 2 losses and re-wrote the LHS record book by directing a spread offense passing attack that piled up points. Angle completed 377 of 596 passes for 5,112 yards with 53 touchdowns and only 16 interceptions in his career. He also led the Chieftains in rushing in 2008 and 2009 and scored 15 touchdowns on the ground. He was a starter at Free Safety in 2008 and was a stalwart linebacker in 2009. Angle was named the 2008 Gridiron Glory Player of the Year, 2008 District Offensive Player of the Year, and 1st team All-Ohio in 2008. In his senior season, he repeated as the District Offensive Player of the Year, repeated as a 1st team All-Ohio selection, was the DII Co-Offensive Ohio Player of the Year, and was a finalist for Mr. Football.
