Chiefs break into season’s initial state football rankings

AP panel slots Logan No. 15 in Division II

COLUMBUS — Logan’s 3-0 start has caused football writers and broadcasters from around the state to take notice: the Chieftains are ranked in the state Associated Press poll for the first time since 2009.

Logan is in the No 15 slot in Division II.

In addition, while it’s still way too early to make playoff plans, the Chiefs are also — unofficially — second in Division II Region 5 of the state computer ratings, according to high school computer ratings expert Joe Eitel (joeeitel.com).

Logan’s Southeastern Ohio Athletic League rival, defending champion Jackson, is No. 13 in Division III of the first state AP poll of the season, which was announced Monday evening.
