ROCKSPRINGS — There’s no question as to just how important Meigs quarterback Cody Bartrum is to his team’s offense.
But as well as he played behind center for the Marauders Friday night, it was his defense and toughness that came up huge on a last-gasp goal-line stand as the visiting Logan Chieftains threatened to tie — and maybe take the lead — in the final 90 seconds at Meigs High School’s Farmer’s Bank Stadium.
After being held out of almost all of the second half on defense following an ankle injury he sustained in the second quarter, Bartrum came in at linebacker on the game’s final series and, with the ball on the Meigs 1-yard line, made a huge third-and-goal tackle, throwing Logan’s Preston Yates for a 4-yard loss.
